Annoyed by having to put in front on [1]?

Then use this instead[2]:

$ journalctl -k

It should work if the user executing this is a member of the groups "systemd-journal", "adm", or "wheel".

[1] which is the case if CONFIG_SECURITY_DMESG_RESTRICT is turned on in your 's .config – which recently switched on, something many other distros did already a while ago.

[2] works for the common case, for some fancier stuff you might still need dmesg

Why is it that on OSes, even with its early OOM and no swap file / no swap partition (because I have 24 GB of RAM, yo), a runaway memory leak will trash the hard drive with IO for 30 minutes before finally doing what the OOM killer was supposed to do (or until the user power cycles the computer in exasperation)?
Why the heck does this touch storage drives, when there is no swap file/partition?

Comprare caricabatterie nuovo: 20€
Comprare batteria nuova: 40€

Curious which distro repos end up with patched builds first

Official obviously takes the lead - already there.

Not yet on 38 repos

Nothing yet or LMDE

Users of other Linux distros feel free to chime in with updates. I'm about to check and (edit: Rocky and the RHEL family appear to use the extended support release like Debian; Manjaro currently has 117.0-1 in stable)

Anyone with who uses snap?

My favorite laptop is a the 10 year old Asus Zenbook ux305f. It was slow when it came out but, runs flawlessly. It's fanless, great on battery, the battery and ssd are user replaceable, and has a 1080p matte display. Old tech can be great tech.

Back on @fedora 38. Debian was pretty solid, but I like access to the latest apps. Specifically the latest version of Firefox, which performs much better.

bookworm,

@thestrangelet @fedora speaking about choices, what are your des of choice when it comes to / ?
