This is how technology changes our view of reality.

The enormous LSST camera (the eye of the Rubin Observatory) will will soon start scanning the entire visible universe every 3-4 days. It will create the grandest movies ever made, watching for anything moving, flickering , appearing, or vanishing in deep space.

Every once in a while I'm tempted to try to move my daughter over to and shit like this is why. She's a smart kid. I'm sure she can pick it up. https://www.pcmag.com/news/these-search-terms-could-lead-kids-to-malware

@mausmalone My kids grew up with Linux -- they struggled to learn Windows and MacOS later on when they had to use them for school or work.

None of the 3 major desktop OS's is inherently more difficult than the others; it's just a matter of which you become familiar with first (though I find Linux a little easier to set up than Windows or MacOS because I don't have to search all over the web for peripheral drivers).

Picture on the left: Bess, taken with the iPhone 15 Pro Max.

Picture on the right: Bess, taken with the Pixel 8 Pro.

Both photos are unedited and pulled directly from the camera and are approximately taken in the same position.

Photo of my 15 year old female black kitty named Bess. The photo was taken from the same position as the other photo that is being posted here and this one was taken on the Pixel 8 Pro.

The US is investing more than $1 billion in carbon capture, but big oil is still involved: 1PointFive is helping oversee one plant in Texas. It also has direct ties to one of the world's largest fossil fuel producers.

Finally ordered an old PC to use for self-hosting. Can’t wait to get my own cloud services at home, no more of Google annoying me about how I’m like 20 GB over my 15 GB Google Photos free storage. Any suggestions for the software/hardware? Still have to get an extra SSD as the boot drive and a monitor in the meantime.
