FutileRecipe,

That’s the joke.

Honytawk,

Melatonin,

That seems kinda sad and pathetic for a celebration.

xploit,

What would you say if they had a big party with a lot of PR/marketing behind it;
“they’re wasting all this money to have fun instead of making the product better”?

Dirk,
@Dirk@lemmy.ml avatar

Most of the money does not go into the browser anyways.

ripcord,
@ripcord@lemmy.world avatar

Yes, because they just want to shit on stuff.

Psych,

Used by the Kremlin themselves aww .

Also the Firefox suit look fucking depressed .

ripcord,
@ripcord@lemmy.world avatar

Ah, you’re here to shit on something you’re out of the loop on

Psych,

Wait did they go back on it ?

ripcord,
@ripcord@lemmy.world avatar

Yes. And as they said they only temporarily suspended it while they figured out what their options were.

But people gotta feed their outrage addictions, I get it.

NoneYa,

Huh, always assumed that Firefox was much older than 2004. I remember using it in 2005/2006 for the first time.

mindbleach,

It was called Firebird in late 2003, and earlier that year it was called Mozilla.

mindbleach,

I’ve been here the entire time and I have never been thrilled.

burrito,

I’m pretty sure it was Phoenix before it was Firebird. They had to change away from both names due to naming conflicts from other projects.

cupcakezealot,
@cupcakezealot@lemmy.blahaj.zone avatar

basically since the 90s if you consider netscape, considering firefox was spun of from them

9point6,

And between the two we had Mozilla Suite (which is what SeaMonkey basically is today)

Iheartcheese,
@Iheartcheese@lemmy.world avatar

This cake brought to you by Russia.

tabletti,

???

yro.slashdot.org/…/firefox-browser-blocks-anti-ce…

We all knew the enshitification was coming when they put someone from Airbnb in charge. It begins by sucking up to Russia.

ripcord,
@ripcord@lemmy.world avatar

They suspended it temporarily while they figured out what to do, then reinstated already.

fossphi,

Is that really necessary here?

tommi,
@tommi@pan.rent avatar

has CUTTING EDGE performance!

@firefox @mozilla

Firefox logo being cut at the edge of a cake

mina,
@mina@berlin.social avatar

@tommi

They should use scissors instead of a knife, as a symbol for supporting censorship.

@firefox @mozilla

Dirk,
@Dirk@lemmy.ml avatar

That really hurts.

mina,
@mina@berlin.social avatar

@Dirk

As a supporter for >15 years, it hurts me that @mozilla / @firefox bow to the Russian autocracy.

levzzz,

It’s the choice of either blocking some extension(s) or getting their whole domains blocked in russia, so mozilla chose the first

mina,
@mina@berlin.social avatar

@levzzz

I know, but these extensions are essential for circumventing censorship.

This is exactly, what I call "bowing to an autocracy".

ripcord,
@ripcord@lemmy.world avatar

K, that’s why they undid the the temporary change.

Vincent,
