Christian Selig (@christianselig@mastodon.social): "Really Important Apollo Update...." (indieweb.social) en

"I just released a really important Apollo update that adds the ability for users with remaining subscription time left to decline an automatic refund. Devs pay refunds out of pocket, and this will be about $250K, so I thank you for your consideration. ❤️ Also, this update includes an amazing "Goodbye Apollo Wallpaper Set”...

You’re all good! I’m also an Ultra + Pro user and there’s no refund needed. Apple treats that kind of transaction as a one time payment. It’s only those who subscribe for a set amount of time (month or year) that are offered refunds.

Christian is releasing the final update for Apollo, allowing users to opt out of the refunds (mastodon.social) en

opted out if mine and got the wallpapers. Incredible loss to the iOS ecosystem.

Damn, what a great guy. He doesn't just make it easy to request a refund that he needs to pay from his own pocket. He actually made it opt-out. I've always used RiF on Android, never used Apollo. But Christian earned a lot of my respect in the last few weeks. Fuck Reddit and fuck how they screwed the people that helped them build the platform into what it is today.

This might be a tough one were I still using Reddit. I want to pay devs who do good work but I don’t want my money to, in turn, pay Reddit so they can claim my content as their own.

Reddit must be laughing hard. They wanted to kill off all 3rd party apps but are now going to make a nice buck while still achieving allmost the same. Well played... well played...

banning and defederating communities (kbin.fedi.cr)

Hey all, I recently left reddit like many of you. I have a question regarding lemmy and the fediverse on the history of banning and defederation. I have noticed several posts calling for varying communities to be disconnected. were these removal requests as prevalent before the mass migration? Usually I am all for communities...

Sharpiemarker,

Let's not sugar-coat this: do not tolerate fascists and bigots in your spaces. Period.

This.

ImplyingImplications,

I am hoping that the new users are coming here with the intent to learn how this community works, before we try to remake the community we just left.

Yeah go and take a stroll through those instances and you’ll see quickly why their posts aren’t welcomed here.

I also have recently left Reddit. And I am all for blocking content that contains hate speech. Allowing fascist content to take root is unacceptable.
