Honest question: Which country are you from and which distribution do you use?

I'm in the United States, and run personally and administer professionally.

In this week’s and News video, we have the new App Store that will demote deb packages, we have the alpha of 45, and proposing to add telemetry in a future release.

Let’s take a look:

💩 Canonical finally snapped.

After gaslighting everyone about good intentions, they will now fully commit to their proprietary Snapverse.

Baby steps, then one big Godzilla one.

IPO, MS or GTFO seems to be the party line.

Not gonna join a cult, specially a corporate one, just to be resold back to MS or worse.

At least they can't play the "benefit of the doubt" card anymore.

Question for my system engineers:

What's better for a home lab

  1. One application per VM
  2. Couple applications per VM
  3. All applications on one VM

I got around 6-7 applications that run on my server

@congames007 I'd go with separation of concerns. If it's entirely separate, keep it on a different VM. if they're not, then combining them is fine.

@fuzzysteve @congames007 This.

Also I have a pretty handy rule of thumb test for it: If I were to do a restore from backup or migrate the VM to a different machine, would I want the services in question to all be affected equally? If not, split them until the answer is yes.

Some upsides for joining:

  • Encapsulated storage/network access.
  • Shared network profile (segmentation etc).
  • Common needs on backup and storage medium & configuration.
