DolphLundgren, a RedditMigration en I made a tool that transfers your reddit subscriptions to lemmy, thought maybe you all might be interested

Not to steal your thunder but the wefwef web app does this also, you just paste in your profile’s multireddit url and then it gives you a clickable list and each click searches Lemmy for all similar communities and then you can sub to any that you want.

induna_crewneck,

Didn’t know that haha. My script does the same thing pretty much. Just automatically if that maybe is worth something. And I’m not after thunder, I made this mainly for myself (and to train coding) and if someone else finds it useful that’s great

DolphLundgren,

Certainly! I think it’s important that people innovate and it’s amazing when it’s helpful for others. Keep up the great work! 😀

mrecom,

Is wefwef iOS only though?

fox2263,

It’s a web app. Now called Voyager.

DuckGuy,
@DuckGuy@lemmy.zip avatar

No, Wefwef is a webapp, meaning you can use it on anything (even on desktop.) It goes by Voyager now.

nick, a opensource en GitHub: Can no longer search code without being logged in.

Bullshit. It’s to prevent AI scrapers, just like Reddit did earlier this year.

anonymoose, a firefox en uBlock Origin works best on Firefox
@anonymoose@lemmy.ca avatar

UBlock Origin on Android in FF is a killer feature for the app! It’s been such a blessing browsing what are usually ad-infested mobile blogs and sites. Adding ghostery to the mix is just :chefs-kiss:

ryan_harg,
@ryan_harg@discuss.tchncs.de avatar

Why do I need ublock origin AND ghostery? Should one of them be enough?

yoasif,
@yoasif@fedia.io avatar

Who says you do?

anonymoose,
@anonymoose@lemmy.ca avatar

You don’t need both of them. I use ghostery in addition to uBO because it includes features like automated cookie consent banner management.

artisticfox8, a firefox en Mozilla officially opposes Web Enviroment Integrity API (DRM for web pages proposal from Google)

How do web crawlers such as googlebot (and for othe, lesser known search engines) fit into that?
Does it mean this API can be discriminating to starting search engine companies?

timbuck2themoon, a selfhosted en [RELESE] Gramps.js Selfhosted genealogy tree v23.8.1

David (primary author) seems a great guy and works pretty diligently on this.

It worked well enough as a test instance for me a bit ago. I guess I could stand it up again and see just where it’s at now. Gramps, for me, is still by far the best family tree software assuming you don’t want anything cloud related.

IntentionallyBoring,

It is an amazing effort to make any project and I think it is grate that he is doing it... still... it took version v23 to starts deleting objects?

kolorafa, a selfhosted en [PROJECT] - Webmesh: A simple, distributed, zero-configuration WireGuard mesh provider

It would be nice to have in docs how to properly and securely run it (aka. Like in prod) if someone would like to actually use it.

Because on quick look it look like there will be a painful road to set it securely that might scare people (including me)

tinyzimmer,

This page aims to cover that (at least for using mTLS) https://webmeshproj.github.io/documentation/using-mtls/ - but you are right - administration docs in general need a lot more love.

EDIT: I've added a link to that page in the part of the insecure "Getting Started" that says "this is insecure don't do it this way". Hopefully that helps people in the right direction a bit more - but I have a long road of more documentation ahead of me.

As always - any and all contributions are welcome :)

Just use Firefox. That’s it.

@OctoFloofy@kbin.social avatar

Can this be used with an kbin account too?

induna_crewneck,

It would need to be edited a bit, but overall it should. The main issue I think are the selectors for the login fields on kbin. Might try to implement it when I get some more time

discosage,

There's at least a second person who would appreciate it (me)!

induna_crewneck,

Added a variation of the script that works with kbin :)

Izzgo,

I would have been another kbin user interested, but I already unsubbed from all but a couple reddit subs. Nice contribution though!

is that error normal? https://i.imgur.com/fpXzKLO.png

induna_crewneck,

Not normal. Haven’t seen that one, yet either. Do you know how to redirect the output to a file and send that to me? (make sure to delete your login data before you do). If you don’t know, let me know and also tell me what operating system you’re using

OctoFloofy,

Unfortunately i don't know, Windows 11.

linux_user_6967, a RedditMigration en I made a tool that transfers your reddit subscriptions to lemmy, thought maybe you all might be interested

Nice work!

but where were you 2 weeks ago :(

induna_crewneck,

I’m sorry, I had this idea a while ago but didn’t get around to doing it. I knew if I started it would take up most of my time (which it did) and I couldn’t afford that until now

density,

omg you do not need to explain. :) I'm sure that comment was intended as appreciation for your good work. just joking about how hard it was bad in the old days and kids these days have it so easy.

Gorejelly, a RedditMigration en Hide Reddit Search Results
@Gorejelly@kbin.social avatar

This is a great tip.

Also, you can just copy “-reddit” (the parts in between the quotes) and append it to any search (with every search engine I tested) to have reddit results removed. You could just have it in a text file easily accessible or make a macro or an autohotkey to do it if you don’t want to copy and paste every time.
