Hi! I'm back from RustNL! Taking it light today (definitely still exhausted) but I'm feeling ready for another . Let's take a look at the PRs that our community has made and reviewed for us this week :) There was a request to check the website repo, so let's start there! 9 PRs are ready, so that's a great call: https://github.com/bevyengine/bevy-website/pulls?q=is%3Aopen+is%3Apr+label%3AS-Ready-For-Final-Review

@bevy now has working groups! These are bottom-up initiatives that provide a space for contributors to collaborate and plan complex but scoped initiatives. To make one, you need 1) at least two other enthusiastic collaborators 2) the blessing of project leadership for the direction of your work.

Make a proposal, write-up a design doc (however you want), run it by the experts in the space and you're off to the races! I'm really keen to see these play out. We have five to start...

I just started my first day as a professional (well, engine dev) for @bevy.

Super exciting to have the bandwidth to start putting my plans into motion. I decided that I want to do a daily status update in engine-dev, and let folks track my current areas of focus using a GitHub project board.

Today was focused on laying out my priorities and tasks, then diving straight into the thorniest project management challenges we have (see below).

What do you use to back up local files from Linux to external hard drive?
I have been using rsnapshot, but maybe there are better solutions out there?
Does anyone have an experience with btrfs and snapshots? Do you trust it?

On one hand, I get it. Theming is hard, and if users use a third-party theme and have a bad experience, they blame the app, rather than the theme.

On the other hand, I think applying this statement to a project goes against the spirit of .

@ramsey I agree with devs, I use Xfce Desktop and I cry each time an app is converted to the Gnome design. The simple theme of my desktop is not applied any more, even the choice I did about the place of the close button is not respected. So I have windows with a thin title bar and button on a side, and others with a huge bar and the buttons on the other side. I hate the dictatorship of this project 😔
And some apps have menus everywhere (a burger one on a side, some button on the other...

Because I see a lot of exaggerated posts. Yes, one of the 16 states in Germany (Schleswig-Holstein) announced a new policy to use more . They will switch from Microsoft Office to , from MSXML to ODF as base format. By installing Libre Office on their Windows Clients. The switch to Linux as operating system will come, but later.

This IS a bold move and I am a big fan. But let’s stick to the facts. It’s a gradual approach, implemented in phases over quite some years.
