Rabbithole,

The mod's response to Reddit, in case people don't want to go there:

According to them, your favourite subreddits going NSFW is too much for you to understand. The infamous Mod Code of Conduct messaged us, demanding we switch back, because “you’re likely confused by all the NSFW content you’ve been seeing”.

They didn’t allow us to reply, so we couldn’t explain that this is a subreddit for an 18+ game, nor has any of our content changed. This subreddit should have been NSFW already, but we’d never thought to change it until recently.

Until we change it back we’re in violation of Reddit’s sitewide rules. We’re not going to change it back, because this is a sexually explicit game, and also fuck them.

If we’re removed at least we got to go out on an fantastically fun flair event (don’t worry this won’t stop your flair from being added I promise), and if this sub changes back from NSFW then you know you’re no longer in control of it.

Rest assured; we have 77 fans all over Reddit, with r/lowsodiumcyberpunk being a decent fall back. We’ve never worked together on anything, but we’ve made an effort to stay on good terms with one another, and I trust them to take care of you all.

Edit: this has hit r/all choombas so assume there are a lot of people here just to feed on the drama

Some time after posting this here, the mods added a second edit:

Edit: since hitting r/all there have been a bunch of accounts created in the last month attacking us and defending Reddit admins with a vigour I’ve never seen before. That seems suspicious, at the very least

So it seems that someone (probably Reddit themselves) caught wind of this and attempted to astroturf it with bots... Now who's recently been caught doing that?

See c4's post below for a Teddit link of the whole thread: https://kbin.social/m/RedditMigration/t/144077/Reddit-threatens-the-mods-of-r-CyberpunkGame-the-main-subreddit-for#entry-comment-559801

Rabbithole,

It's not that bad today to be honest.

It's still not at all the game that they originally sold people pre-release though. If you go into it thinking that you're going to be getting an action looter-shooter with some interesting mechanics and great visuals then you'll get pretty much what you're expecting.

Going into it buying CDPR's line about it being the "next generation of open-world gaming" and "Evolution of RPG's" or whatever crap they were spewing, will leave a sour taste in your mouth.

The main campaign and side-mission storylines are just flat-out great though.

CDPR have always been good at doing the storytelling side of things, and that didn't really change with Cyberpunk.

Total fraud on release though, especially on console. Fuck them for what they did there.

For transparency, I'm referring to how it is currently on PC, where you also get mods if you want them. I couldn't comment on the console experience as I haven't played it.

Definitely wait for a sale though if you do one day go for it, I don't think it's good enough for the full price. Too many things are still lacking, although the upcomming DLC may fix that (which still means paying extra to fix the shit that should have been in the base game since release... Yeah).

Rabbithole,

SRD have been having a goddamn feeding frenzy the past few weeks.

But I could definitely see some of them getting burned out from excess joy. :D

Rabbithole,

Thank you. I should have done that myself tbh.

Rabbithole,

That's... actually impressive.

You sure as hell grew up with a solid understanding of patience if the youtube videos that I saw of that are at all accurate.

Rabbithole,

Lol, no.

Reddit's like the reverse of Cyberpunk. Started great, then turned into a morass of lies later on. :D

Rabbithole,

Amusingly enough: r/asalanguagemodel.

Rabbithole,

Bad transformer!

Rabbithole,

God, I remember that one... Yeah, bad game, but... Holograms!? I lost much money there, to my shame. 0_o

Rabbithole,

I didn't want to because it felt like stealing c4's post, so I just upvoted and boosted it instead.

Valid point though, I edited the main post so that it links to their comment now.

Rabbithole,

So, is Spez finally beginning to realize just how badly Reddit shat the bed here then? Ha, good luck to them, their insanity just spawned eventual competitors and made a LOT of their userbase realize many things about Reddit that they weren't happy with at all.

Enjoy watching your site and it's IPO slowly collapse then. Time for something better.

I just tried to see how to reference a magazine in Kbin by searching Google. (google.com) en

First try, Reddit post in r/Kbinmigration (I think) and it didn’t let me see the real post. Second time, it doesn’t even include Reddit posts and all about citing a magazine in APA style, and the like. Google dropping Reddit search? Because of API costs? No, because searching Reddit news yields Reddit as the top 5 entries....

Rabbithole,

Not API related as google uses crawlers to scrape and index everything.

Use the following search term in google:

site:reddit.com subscribe to kbin magazine

Rabbithole,
Rabbithole,

For the love of all that's right in the world, what in the ever living hell is that website design...

It's like some kind of mad fever nightmare from a 2000s web designer with a crack habit.

Fraaaaames...

Rabbithole,

I just checked on mobile, it's horribly laggy for scrolling but you're right, it is vastly better than on desktop.

Rabbithole,

You're seeing a bubble burst.

The VC money is drying up and the current social media funding paradigm is breaking because of it.

It's a bit like witnessing the Dot Com bubble burst again tbh.

It's about time we moved on to a better way of doing things anyway, I'm pretty good with moving away from the old ad-based, exploit your community for profit model, personally.

Rabbithole,

That used to be true until they made the insane move of self-hosting all of the images and videos using i.reddit and v.reddit rather than continuing the previous practice of everyone posting all of the media to imgur and youtube, etc.

They just had to own everything themselves, even if it meant giving themselves running costs that would inevitably climb to youtube-like expenses because of all of the media streaming.

Pure madness.

Rabbithole,

Nah, they just feel that they have everyone legitimately locked-in now, so there's no need to try anymore...

Meaning that apparently that was them actually trying before, which is a horrifying thought.

Rabbithole,

Any form of "Karma" is going to be a net negative, reddit showed that just fine.

It was supposed to be a positive thing. Being as it's calculated through up/downvotes, and up/downvotes being meant as a representation of how relevant someone's post/comment is, the user's Karma would be an indication of how relevant their content and additions to the discussions are.

Of course, back in the real world, everyone just went and used karma to say if they liked/disliked a thing, so rather than Karma being a metric of relevance/helpfulness, it was more often than not a metric of how many useless fucking memes were posted.

People engage easier with rapid-consumption content like memes/images, or quick quips, etc. They don't have to take time to actually read reasoned discussion, and so someone focussing on the low-quality, low-effort crap will always end up winning when it comes to Karma, vs someone who takes out the time to actually add something of value.

Karma is the reason why huge swaths of reddit are full of low-effort garbage, and it needs to die as an idea.

It was a well intentioned idea that didn't work. Best not to repeat it again here imho.

Rabbithole,

He confirmed the Lemmy app.

It's in the playstore where you can pre-register for it. Looks great.

Rabbithole,

where Spez edited comments to make the sub seem to be inciting violence, so he had an excuse to ban it

Not what happened. Spez, fuckwit though he is, actually managed to do a halfway decent trolling there.

A bunch of t_d people were slagging him off and insulting him in their comments. Spez got drunk as shit one night and edited their comments, swapping his name with Trump's so that it made them look like a bunch of anti-trumpers. Much gnashing of teeth ensued.

Absolutely shouldn't have done it, especially as CEO of Reddit FFS, but definitely funny as shit.

Don't get me wrong, it's absolutely a mark against him, but he didn't get them banned. They thouroughly got themselves banned on their own.
