Severely limiting your intake of carbohydrates and fats, you may be shortening your lifespan (theinnovativehorizon.com) en

Carbs, Fats, and the Mortality Maze: What Your Diet Means for Your Life Expectancy Grandma used to constantly say, "Eat your carbs, they give you energy!" but now, personal trainers are encouraging you to stop eating carbs and switch to keto. What gives, then? I stumbled uncovered an intriguing cohort research that may or may...

Having had to learn about ketoacidosis for my schooling, I was always confused how this keto diet was a good idea.. ketones = bad is what I was told. I'm assuming you're not going to the point of ketoacidosis, but having your body create ketones still doesn't sound like something I'd want.

Hrm it seems defederation needs some work put into it. If an instance defederates from another, there should be no way to see each other, one way or another.

No idea MySpace still existed. it just looks like some entertainment article website, weird..

No, but I've definitely been curious as to why things were still working when they weren't supposed to. So that ends that.

Do you need 3rd party tools to moderate on lemmy? Can you do it on mobile?
I have thoughts of starting some communities, but no point if I can't do it from mobile.

Yes, Infinity and Relay still working makes sense since they are going subscription model, but Boost still functioning is an anomaly.

Edit: Apparently as per a post on r/boostforreddit which references a post on r/redditdev, Reddit said the API changes would take place over the coming weeks. Not completely on July 1st.

If you want to see the post, you can here:

The reduced amount of comments here actually motivate me to comment more. On Reddit I wouldn't even bother commenting on a lot of posts as they would have comments in the hundreds sometimes and I couldn't see the point to bother just having my comment never seen in a sea like that.

I can't wait for the Lemmy Boost app. Wish kbin had an API so there'd be apps for it as well though.

UnhappyCamper,
@UnhappyCamper@kbin.social avatar

Apparently not, as someone else mentioned Relay is still running as well.

Thanks for the heads up!

Meaning quite a few hours past the end of July 1st

I checked the BoostForLemmy community, but there's no new posts discussing the matter.

Checked r/boost, it's literally all memes of people joking about using the official Reddit app when they're still using boost.

The dev only made a post on here advertising Boost for Lemmy, and never anything else. Apparently they aren't very active generally.

So yeah, no clue on my end.. sure curious to know what's going on though.

Former Canonical Developer is Working on a Script that Replaces Snaps with Flatpaks (linux.slashdot.org) en

Linux magazine reports that "Former Snap co-developer Alan Pope, who left Canonical in 2021 after 10 years with the company, has developed unsnap, a script that replaces snaps with Flatpaks where available. The script, hosted on GitHub, has been tested by the developers for use on Ubuntu and all de...

Interesting, though I'm unsure why you'd bother with this. The script just searches for equivalent flatpaks and converts them. If there's no flatpak in existence for an app, it doesn't do anything to it. Just download the equivalent flatpak to begin with? Am I missing something?

UnhappyCamper,
@UnhappyCamper@kbin.social avatar

There's already r/casualama or whatever for that as well

It's a holiday weekend in Canada as well.
