If someone can prove me wrong and show me my mistake in any thought or action, I shall gladly change. I seek the truth, which never harmed anyone: the harm is to persist in one's own self-deception and ignorance.

I realized why I enjoy Linux so much and why I've stuck with it all these years (slight vent)... (kbin.social) en

In a world where nothing seems to work anymore, especially anything related to tech and/or customer service, getting on my laptop running Linux Mint just feels like a breath of fresh air. And that goes for just about any distro. It's nice to have something that works as it should and doesn't seem to go out of its way to cause...

A Linux computer does what you tell it to do when you tell it to do it, and that's all it does...

Like every computer should do.

But this hasn't been true of Windows computers in 20 years.

Even a small barrier to entry greatly improves the signal to noise ratio in discussions, so I view the (very) minor challenge of getting into the Fediverse to be a much appreciated feature.

I'd be more interested in Lemmy for Reddit for Lemmy.

I’m in the post-ban blackpilled mode right no so please forgive me. I know reddit is falling apart but it isn’t happening fast enough. Is there any hope that the whole site will be destroyed? I really just want the whole site / app completely destroyed and thew Vichyite mods unable to have their power trips anymore.

Reddit isn't going to die... It's just going to become more like Facebook. The advertisers will love it because the people that remain will be the type of people that don't care about content quality or even repetitiveness, and actually look at ads because they don't care about what's being put in front of them to look at as long as somebody is pushing something in front of them to look at.

First days with daily driving Linux (kbin.social) en

Hey everyone, a while ago I made [this post] (https://kbin.social/m/linux/t/108370/Help-me-find-a-fitting-distro) asking for recommandations of distros. After some considerable thinking I went ahead and chose EndeavourOS (with Gnome) due to wanting an experience as close to Arch as possible but having some handholding at the...

Don't forget to install the Microsoft Edge flatpak.

RoboRay,

I actually do install it on computers for kids, to use the Microsoft child-account parental controls.

Reddit is broken. It's not unusual for some of your comments to get disconnected from your account profile and not show up there anymore.

They still belong to your account so you can delete them from the actual thread... Just not from your profile.

It's been this way for years... Just most people don't notice because they don't try to clear out their entire history.

Then another bot will repost the original and start the cycle over again.

This is probably the most needed feature.

I hate having to dive down into menus to get to my subscriptions when two different areas on the main screen are filled with random magazines.

RoboRay,
@RoboRay@kbin.social avatar

Yes, but there is no simple way to open a single magazine.

RoboRay,
@RoboRay@kbin.social avatar

I would have, as well. But that ship has sailed, even if Spaz does try to offer that up now.

We should all message the admins demanding the closed sub be reopened to stop the protests.

Maybe we can get an infinite loop going.

Even a low barrier to entry tends to significantly improve the signal-to-noise ratio in discussions.

So, I'm fine with people that can't get past making a simple, almost irrelevant, decision as step 1 of gaining access... not gaining access.

hearing about reddit strike on the street (kbin.social) en

I was standing on the street today when a man and woman passed me. The man was heatedly explaining to the woman about the reddit strike. I overheard him say "It's the third largest subreddit...." and he was making hand gestures I could see as they walked past. (Which one is the third largest?)...
