I’m sort of concerned about articles like these because it isn’t as if convincing fake video wasn’t possible until now. I remember watching a show talking about the JFK scene in Forrest Gump which was produced way back in 1994. Bad actors have had access to deceitful tech forever. It’s just a bit easier now.
I’m in the post-ban blackpilled mode right no so please forgive me. I know reddit is falling apart but it isn’t happening fast enough. Is there any hope that the whole site will be destroyed? I really just want the whole site / app completely destroyed and thew Vichyite mods unable to have their power trips anymore.
I said this a few times, but I was never kicked off of any website. I wasn’t kicked off of facebook, I wasn’t kicked off of linkedin, I wasn’t kicked off of reddit, I wasn’t kicked off of twitter. I left willingly because I could see the writing on the wall. What exactly is the point of a communications website that you can’t communicate on?
Absolutely no desire to go back, but I do get a kick out of it whenever I see a post about a new batch of people waking up to the fact that big Tech isn’t your friend. When they are going after your enemies, it might feel good but they’re coming after you next. They are always coming after you next.
Edit: alright I'm sticking this up here because a number of people seem confused--this post isn't trying to convince you that "fediverse" is a bad term--rather it's a discussion of why I think "threadiverse" is a good umbrella term, for the forum-based part of the fediverse specifically. I’ve preferred “Threadiverse” for a while, since the ecosystem is larger than just lemmy and kbin. Those are just the two dominant platforms, just like mastodon is the dominant platform on the other side of the fediverse, but it isn’t the only one by any stretch.
