Was banned from the sinusitis subreddit for telling (apparently a mod) that a deviated septum absolutely can cause a sinus infection. He got upset and banned me- and even denied my ability to respond to the ban....
True, but if someone were to be banned in one community they can always join and make comments in another similar Lemmy community (or similar magazine on kbin). If they get banned on one instance, they cam join another instance. The Fediverse makes it easy to still contribute even if one avenue is closed.
As far as I can tell, there hasn't been any moderator overreach on Lemmy/kbin. Maybe everyone is starting off on their best behavior. Or mods are aware that the atomized nature of the Fediverse means they have only so much power or influence. Also, it could just be the communities/magazines I'm in but there haven't been a lot of heated arguments.
I've probably spent an hour in the past month just trying to login to kbin, clearing site data, refreshing, retrying. I thought the bug was fixed recently but it's worse than ever now....
When the whole Reddit fiasco started happening, I saw a lot of people wiping and deleting their Reddit accounts and moving elsewhere, like here on Lemmy....
Kbin is a part of the Fediverse and is similar to Lemmy. I have a kbin.social account and am replying to you from kbin. (I subscribe to a lot of Lemmy communities via kbin).
Tildes is not a part of the Fediverse. It is a text-driven private forum basically created and run by one person. You need an invite from a Tildes account holder to join. It's its own little island. am on Tildes a lot and really like it.
It wasn't the fact that there was a limit to see 1000 comments but what they were. The vast majority of my 12 years on Reddit I spent talking about dungeon and dragons 5th edition (DnD 5e) which I started playing early in is lifestyle. It was my first role playing game and I got sucked into the Internet to learn more. Before my...
I deleted all of my comments using PDS. I just did a Google search for my username on Reddit and it had one result. I went to the post (I remember the OP) but my comment doesn't appear on the post. So is this a caching issue?
Apparently someone got into a debate with a bot in Reddit. Maybe it's not a surprise that the bot was anti-mod, pro-Reddit admin. Make sure you scroll down in the comments to see the second screenshot (it's a screenshot.of the same conversation but in dark mode).
I'm so sorry. It's a real loss of something you valued and took pride in. It's also a loss of community. Be kind to yourself while you mourn the loss. (We're all feeling it to some degree.) But you have a fresh, new community right here for you.

Just an FYI about another Reddit alternative. New URL, too. I think they decided to change the name to avoid a copyright issue.
