Read all four books and still don't know what they actually are.

I'm getting 2.6 in Germany too.

It's a theory that fits the available evidence. So it's more valid than most conspiracy theories.

Open source developers - have the recent moves by RedHat changed your opinion of using non-GPL licenses? (kbin.social) en

The new license terms for RHEL are structured to stop subscribers from exercising their rights under the GPL. For now they are still providing source code albeit in a less convenient form, but technically they only need to do this for GPL licenses packages and they could remove code for BSD /MIT / Apache licensed packages....

I used to think that maybe I'll give Fedora a try some day. Not any more.

Xeelee,

It's ultimately a product of Red Hat. I don't want anything to do with that company any more.

Wow, I've never heard of Teddit. I wonder how long they will still be around.

That fucker really personifies everything that's wrong with tech-bro culture.

But it's the morons that allow the oligarchy stooges to continue destroying the world by voting for them.

Wouldn't it be possible to make a Linux kernel for real time applications? That would obviously be very stripped down, but you're not going to run Crysis on your avionics computer anyway.

Xeelee,
@Xeelee@kbin.social avatar

That's one thing I don't like about kbin. I'm used to upvotes and downvotes and trying to be Reddit and Twitter at the same time just doesn't work. I think we should leave microblogging to Mastodon and concentrate on link aggregation.

Xeelee,

It's sad. But now kbin is in its place on my phone. Time for something new.

Reddit has been a toxic cesspool for a long time. I just realised how desensitized i have become to this sort of thing after mainly being active here. I really hope we can keep it that way.

Xeelee,
@Xeelee@kbin.social avatar

They've been saying stuff like this from day one. But in reality they don't give a shit

At this point, it's not about what is logical or sensible. Huffman would rather burn the place down than admit he was wrong.

hearing about reddit strike on the street (kbin.social) en

I was standing on the street today when a man and woman passed me. The man was heatedly explaining to the woman about the reddit strike. I overheard him say "It's the third largest subreddit...." and he was making hand gestures I could see as they walked past. (Which one is the third largest?)...

I've been using Sync, but I feel the same. But it's all water under the bridge now. Reddit is over and it's time to move on.

Mint is perfect for getting started. And unless you have very specific requirements or like tinkering is just fine as a daily driver. It just works and doesn't get in the way. I've been using it for years and never had any reason to try anything else.

You mean /r/jailbait? The subreddit /u/spez used to moderate? I bet he'd like that to be forgotten these days.

Xeelee,

My account was suspended without any notification at all. I was pretty close to giving up on Reddit anyway, so that was just the final straw. Bit sad, though, I spent a lot of time on Reddit. But now it's time say "fuck you, spez".

Every Linux Geek Needs to Know Sed and Awk. Here’s Why… - The Tech Edvocate (thetechedvocate.org) en

Linux is known for its flexibility and customization options, and there are countless tools and commands available for users to explore. However, two of the most versatile and powerful tools that every Linux geek should know are sed and awk. These command-line tools have been around for decades and are still widely used by...

I'll probably need a few more lines in Python, but I can do everything i want and don't have to deal with the cryptic syntax. I once had to use awk because some extra pigheaded sysadmin refused to install Python on an AIX machine. Glad i don't work there any more.
