genoxidedev1,

There were most certainly bots but I'm pretty sure (and I'm speaking from experience since I was there) that there were more than enough real people helping.

Especially the Germans were probably a driving force as usual and then there were the other communities that united on their Discord servers as well, I was part of one that had ~3k members I think (Fuck Spez Coalition 🫡).

genoxidedev1,

Fuck the CEO of Reddit

genoxidedev1,

Wie die guten alten Zeiten! /s

genoxidedev1,

They don't need to cut anything so far they posted every days timelapse mostly complete and didn't censor the fuck spez messages.

I could imagine them cutting the very end out though.

genoxidedev1,

Funny Fuck Spez compilation (YOU WILL LAUGH 100%)

genoxidedev1,

Was happy to help! Thank you to everyone that contributed to this beautiful piece of art🫡

genoxidedev1,

And they can also still see your comments after you blocked them, at least in my experience. Blocking people is not too useful right now because of that IMO.

genoxidedev1,

I mean I would still report them depending on severity but yeah that's of course also a way to do it. I'd absolutely love to see block becoming 2-ways instead of peekaboo.

genoxidedev1,

That's what I mean by severity if you're blocking people for mundane reasons there's of course not always a need to report.

By the way, as far as I personally know (because I asked this myself), if you report someone from exploding heads for example from this instance the report should go to ernest.

In case I explained it badly read this comment from user Kichae

genoxidedev1,

Depending on the circumstances, yes, but if you were arguing with someone and blocked them after you thought the argument was over but they still replied for example, you cannot see their reply, which could lead to misunderstandings.

genoxidedev1,

Oh now I understand what you meant, no I consider both to be bad. Both don't belong here, as well as any other -ism with bad intent. I believe that at the moment reporting the really serious stuff is the important thing to do and as the site grows, and we get more moderators so we don't overload 1-2 people with reports, I wouldn't see any reason not to report the less "serious" stuff.

genoxidedev1,

For actual? Infinity still works, I guess they shut off at different times?

But yeah RIP legend

Lemmy: 1,660,853 users
Kbin: 52,449 users

For future reference

Edit: Yes I know the Lemmy userbase is inflated but you can still kind of calculate the newcomers unless they start deleting all the bot accounts

Furthermore, since this has garnered a little bit of attention, for the kbin stats visit this site and for the Lemmy stats visit this site

genoxidedev1,

I'm not sure who they're doing it for, I'm pretty sure at least 99% of the people that used it in the first place are now done with Reddit or only use old.reddit.com (until that socket disappears too)

genoxidedev1,

The awards I had given out were from back when free awards existed. I have never given Reddit a single cent and I have never visited Reddit without Adblock enabled.

genoxidedev1,

Today is officially gonna be the last day that I will argue with righties and centrists on r/conservative

genoxidedev1,

I personally love how inclusive everyone (at least 99%) here is and I am personally fighting very much to keep it that way. Although I am white and only an ally and thus not part of LGBT myself, even I feel much safer here although I wouldn't have much to fear on other websites myself.

Hot take: 18 years of user contributions to reddit will serve as a base model for an AI that generates content and conversations. the reddit experience continues as a simulation, to harvest clicks, sales and ad revenue. (kbin.social) en

most of the time you'll be talking to a bot there without even realizing. they're gonna feed you products and ads interwoven into conversations, and the AI can be controlled so its output reflects corporate interests. advertisers are gonna be able to buy access and run campaigns. based on their input, the AI can generate...

genoxidedev1,

I never fully trust users with automated usernames and this just proves my paranoia.

Then again someone who calls subreddits "subReddit" is automagically a bot in my eyes anyways.

genoxidedev1,

It would have helped Reddit, or at least the user experience on Reddit, majorly if they had just disabled API access for all but a select few bots (Like automod for example).

Also on the NSFW side of Reddit those automated username "users" are the ones spamming their, or someones, OF on every NSFW subreddit, even unrelated ones to the content they're posting. Or so a friend told me, of course.

genoxidedev1,

2 days

genoxidedev1,

On the one hand it's sad that 3rd party apps are officially gonna be dead but on the other hand I'm really looking forward to it! End of an era. Perchance.

genoxidedev1,

I think if you want something aesthetic you could give Garuda Linux a try/look it's based on Arch linux but not as complex as far as I remember. I used it for a while on my laptop. They also got a suite that should ease gaming.

genoxidedev1,

Why shouldn't they do it though? As if they had something to lose. I prefer this over just leaving the site and making it easy for Reddit to just instate new Moderators that want to lick ass and chew gum and they're all out of gum.

Don't take this comment as complete disagreement though, I get your point.
