RTR#24 Setting up test environments for federation development, comment wrapping (kbin.social) en

Today, I began testing a new instance deployment process, which is an absolute must-have before the release. I also initiated preparations for new test environments that I will be using for developing the federation. The first iteration of comment wrapping has been introduced on the instance as well.

Hey Ernest, thanks for the hard work. I just wanted to mention that I think comment wrapping is still a little broken on mobile. It separates by color, but indentation doesn't exist and it's pretty difficult to figure out who is responding to who in a crowded thread. Example photo attached.

All things considered though, a relatively minor issue. But one I'd like to see addressed (especially if the effort is being made now to introduce / fix comment wrapping.)

If there's a better place to report bugs than here please let me know.

Thanks brother. You're a real one. Keep it up! We all appreciate you very much.

Be wary of spiteful Reddit users (kbin.social) en

In the past week and a half, I've noticed Reddit behaviors starting to try and poison all of the places that people are taking refuge in to get away from the toxicity, myself included. They've started to DDoS Lemmy for a while, which is a Reddit thing to do and what they're notorious of doing whenever they feel they don't like...

Please do not ever apply to moderate anything. You will destroy the community. To be quite honest, with the attitude on display in this thread, you would be one of the first people to earn themselves a ban from somewhere I was in charge of.

Personally I've extremely rarely ever had the sorts of experiences you claim to have either on reddit or on the Fediverse. Especially not having groups of people hunt me down for my opinions. If everywhere you go smells like shit, you should check your own shoes - I find it difficult to believe that you haven't been bringing this upon yourself with your behavior.

Nothing is being dealt with, is the problem. Every year people die to heat related problems. This year there will be a lot more of them. Next year there will be a lot more than this year.

The problem with saturated humidity is that your sweat can't evaporate to cool you. Unless you directly remove yourself from the hot and humid environment, which is sometimes possible but isn't always, any temperature above body temperature (roughly 95-98 degrees F) can and will prove fatal over long exposure. Even having moving air blow over you, like sitting in front of a fan, won't help you if it's too humid to evaporate sweat.

Without artificial ways of cooling your environment, such as air conditioning, you're going to be pretty screwed. Many places don't have access to air conditioning at all, and the places that do have it will be using it so much that they'll constantly be doing more progressive damage to the environment, which then in turn makes the heat waves worse and snowballs it all to deal with an even worse problem next year. Repeat until mass extinction is achieved.

Ernest is a Chad for sure. We've exploded in number almost overnight and he's been working his ass off to keep everything not only up and running but improving.
